Short Bio of Mike T. O’maera


Mike is a an experienced Communications Consultant with vast experience gained over the last 13 years working in various positions of responsibility as well undertaking studies and consultancies. He has a special interest in communication for development and the use of media to foster peaceful co-existence. He has enhanced skills in content development and management, Radio and TV programming, media Monitoring & Evaluation plans and framework.  In addition he has in-depth skills narrative report design, writing and development.


Mike specializes in Media Research and Consultancy, trainings at all levels, institutional capacity assessments and capacity building and technical systems audit in media ICT. Mike has worked in various capacities within the media industry, from a general writer to editor; he has also consulted for a various organizations and worked as a communications manager for a number of organizations. He also worked as the National Coordinator at Elimu Yetu Coalition, the largest umbrella body bringing together all stakeholders in education in Kenya.


In addition he has consulted for various organizations working in Somalia, Save the Children, and Oxfam in the IMAM project in South Central, RDC and HLH among others.Mike’s Educational background includes BA in Mass Communication, advanced Diplomas in Philosophy and Theology and underwent formation to the Catholic Priesthood for 10 years. Project planning, M&E and Basic GIS and GPS.  He is currently pursing MA in Journalism and Mass Communication at Chuka University. 


Mike is married to Agnes and has 3 sons, aged18, 12, and 7. Currently, Mike is the Communications and Knowledge management Officer at the Pan African Climate Change Alliance, in Nairobi.
