Mr. George Sunguh will be moderating a panel discussion on: 'Using the Media for Promotion of Integral Human Development in Africa.


He is an award winning journalist and experienced Editor with a demonstrated history of working in the information services industry. Strong media and communication professional, skilled in Magazine Editing and Management, Public Relations, Crisis Communications, Strategic Planning, and Event Management. 


Mr Sunguh is the immediate former Head of Communications at Port Management Association for Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA), an Inter-governmental Organization operating under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). 


He has organized, directed and been a speaker in a number of international conferences within and outside Africa. Among the conferences he successfully organized include the UCAP 2008 and 2012 in Mombasa, Kenya. 


He has worked as a journalist since 1984 starting as a reporter with the Nation Media Group, a leading media house in East Africa and several media institutions including the Lloyds List Journal, Reuters, Kenya Television Network, Agence France Press and the BBC World Service. 


He is currently a Media Consultant based in Mombasa editing a stable of trade and life style magazines such as ISCOS Shipping and Logistics; The Tea Junction; African Shipping Review; Bandari Sacco and the Coast Woman among others. He is the current UCAP President having been elected in July 2014 at Bamako, Mali and chair of the UCAP Kenya chapter.  


Mr Sunguh has served UCAP as the 1st Vice President following the election in 2010 in Ouagadougou. Burkina Faso. He joined UCIP in 1988 and has participated in its activities across Africa, Europe and the Americas. He is married with four children.


He holds an MA Degree in Media and Communications from the University of Leicester in England, UK.
