Rev. Fr. IHEJIRIKA,  Walter Chikwendu, will moderate the session themed: “Journalism for truth and reconciliation in the Church and of service to peoples” 

Fr. Walter is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara Mbaise, Nigeria.  He holds Doctorate in Sociology of Communication from the Gregorian University, Rome. In 2003, he was a member of the team of communication experts commissioned by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria to set up the Centre for the Study of African Culture and Communication at the Catholic Institute of West Africa, Port Harcourt.

He is currently a Professor of Development Communication and Media Studies at the Federal University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He has participated as a member of the SIGNIS/ Ecumenical Jury at the following Film Festivals: Zanzibar, FESPACO (Ouagadougou), Venice, Locarno, and Besancon. 

As President of SIGNIS-Nigeria he successfully organised the Festival of Catholic Artistes and Entertainers FESTICATE I & II as well as the Catholic Video Film and Video Music Festival. He is currently the President of SIGNIS-Africa.

He is the Founder and Admin of the online evangelization group on Facebook – FaceGod. Apart from his mother tongue, Igbo, he speaks English and Italian fluently, and has sufficient research knowledge of French.
